The Kenya Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka welcomed its 1,000,000th visitor on July 22, 2025, marking kicking off the second half of the six-month global exhibition.

The distinguished guest, Dr. Mayu, received a warm Kenyan welcome in form of traditional performances and vibrant displays of culture.

Held in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, the World Expo—officially known as Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai—has attracted millions from around the globe under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” And for Kenya, the Pavilion is a story of the nation’s past, present, and bold vision for the future.

At Expo 2020 Dubai, delayed by the pandemic, Kenya managed to draw 523,000 visitors—a feat amid global uncertainty. Fast forward to 2025, and the Pavilion is already on course to double that number, eyeing 2 million attendees by October.

From green energy innovations and agribusiness showcases to a mini-marathon featuring elite Kenyan athletes, the Pavilion is alive with activity, making visitors feel the rhythm of Kenya—its entrepreneurial spirit, its hospitality, and its ambition.

Moreover, Kenya is leveraging the Expo to boost trade with Japan, attract investment, and narrow the trade deficit, aligning closely with the Vision 2030 development blueprint.

Kenya’s growing presence at the Expo shows that international platforms show that there is an opportunity to interact with their culture in the diaspora. The Pavilion’s success is a call to action for Kenya’s youth as well to represent home with pride.

With three months to go, the countdown to 2 million visitors is on. And for Kenya, the spotlight is just beginning to shine.
