Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski both retained their UFC titles with brilliant performances at UFC 276. The duo, who both train under Eugene Bareman and the City Kickboxing Gym, retained their Middleweight and Featherweight titles respectively.
Volkanovski put on a striking clinic against fierce rival Max Holloway, cementing his spot as the greatest featherweight in the world. He now has three wins over Holloway, none as magnificent and clear as the third one though. He left the fight almost flawless and seemed just to fast for a fast Holloway.
Volk now sits at the top of the featherweight rankings and having beat Holloway thrice, nothing seems to entice him more in that division. He has intentions to move up a division to lightweight and challenge for the title which is currently vacant. The Australian is on a slick twenty two fight wining streak and is yet to lose in the UFC after twelve fights. His MMA record is currently 25-1.
Israel Adesanya, popularly referred to as the last Stylebender stole the show as always in the UFC 276 main event. His walkout to WWE superstar and legend The Undertaker’s theme song was trending across the world on Sunday morning. He faced Jared Cannonier, who is one of the most powerful middleweights in the world. It was a challenge that Izzy brilliantly passed, making it out of the fight almost unscathed.
Even though he lost at his attempt to become champ-champ against Jan Blachowicz, Izzy still reigns supreme in the middleweight division. After the fight, he called out Alex Pereira, who has amazingly knocked Izzy out twice during his kick boxing career.
Pereira himself got a win on the same pay per view against Sean Strickland. That fight has got MMA fans drooling and they cannot wait.
