In a highly charged and action-packed football match, spectators were treated to a rollercoaster of emotions as Daystar Falcons and Daystar City battled it out. The game, held at the Bethel Grounds lived up to its hype, featuring incredible goals, contentious decisions, and moments of pure excitement.
The match kicked off with both teams displaying their attacking prowess from the outset. Daystar City’s Nathan had an early opportunity to open the scoring. However, much to the disappointment of the travelling fans, his goal was disallowed. The decision sparked debates among fans, but the match referee stood firm with her decision.
The home team, not to be outdone, quickly capitalized on the momentum shift. Madede, broke through City’s defense with a brilliant effort, to put Falcons ahead after being set up by a cutback cross from fellow teammate Mike. The home fans erupted in jubilation.
Shortly after, Falcons would double their lead again through Madede who was set up by Musanka. Musanka lashed on to a paried away save after City failed to clear the ball.
As the first half drew to a close, Mike would add to his assist and put the home side 3 goals to the good with a stunning header on goal after teammate mida mida found him with a cross. The stadium erupted with cheers.
The second half began with even more intensity, as both teams sought to gain the upper hand. City piled the pressure on Falcons early on in the second half and would get their reward as Abubbakar’s effort found the back of the net.
Falcons would bring City goalkeeper, Ken Andrew into action forcing a double save that kept City in the match. City’s onslaught would see another goal disallowed when Deng found the back of the net but the referee again called foul play.
City’s spirited fight in the second half could not help mount a comeback as Falcons saw out the game holding on to their two-goal lead and taking the campus bragging rights.
